Understanding Why Flights Get Delayed

Nobody wants flight delays, that much is true. The airlines are regulated as to their flight schedules so you can be guaranteed that your airline will exhaust all efforts to be on time. However, it is also very true that there are flight delays all over the world, and the effects of this can range from petty to massive.

delayed flightsIf you are just coming home from a vacation, the delay is probably something you will not fret about, as it extends your stay on that exotic island, if only for an hour.

Of course, you can’t do much but stay in the airport and just bask in the ambience. But if you are coming home after a long business trip and just want to relax and see your family, and you need to connect to another flight to do so, a delayed flight is a nightmare.

For delayed flights that are caused by the mechanical troubles or inefficient booking system, the airlines will pretty much compensate you for the inconvenience. They will find ways, and pay for it, to enable you to meet your estimated time of arrival. They can even coordinate with the interconnecting flights, see is waiting for you if possible. If it’s not, they will pay the costs of transferring you to another, even pay for lodging costs, if needed.

If it’s a delay due to bad weather or some limitations imposed by the air traffic control, then you just need to wait and hope that it’s just a delay and not a cancellation. Safety issues are non-negotiable, and it should not be seen as an inconvenience.
