Revel in the History of San Antonio, Texas

Sometimes, it’s nice to travel to cities and towns where there aren’t many hustles and bustle, not too many crowds and just enjoy a quiet getaway, as if you are going back to your hometown. This is exactly the case when you visit the wonderful San Antonio in Texas with its rich history and charming little villages. San Antonio’s main attraction revolves around the war, although there is much Mexican and Latino flavor seen from place to place.

San Antonio Texas

San Antonio is home to the number one tourist attraction in all of Texas: the Alamo. This alone is enough to satisfy professional and casual historians. The Alamo may not be a proper fort, rather it is a mission, but it has a very rich and colorful history that it still remains the most visited place in Texas.

There are five more other missions in this area and each is interconnected with each other, though it will require some walking. Walking is a welcome activity, what with the beautiful historic landscapes San Antonio has to offer. You just need to be properly clothed so that you can spend your day walking to and from famous tourist places.

Downtown, you can go around the Paseo de Rio with its many offerings of cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops, perfect for the afternoons or when the sun is particularly harsh. Past and present blend well together in some commercial stops, which were originally historical buildings. Wait for dusk as you sip a lovely cup of coffee by the River in one of the many coffee shops. Or sample some great San Antonio Texas barbecue.
