There are new colors in the airport, and you may be wondering what they stand for. They’re not just decorations; they’re the latest efforts of the US Transportation Security Authority (TSA) to make traveling easier for you. These colors are intended to make security check-ins more efficient. Basically, it categorizes travelers according to their experience in traveling. This is closely related to the time they’ll require to go through security checkpoints.
Expert travelers are presumably very familiar with the security routine, and because they are experts, they are expected to pack and clothe in a very security-friendly manner. The Black Diamond is for them and this is the fastest of all the security lanes. Do not attempt.
However, to go to a Black Diamond lane if you are not a frequent traveler. You won’t be given time to sort out your stuff, and you will certainly receive unwanted attention if you do so. Your best bet is to go to the Blue Square Lane which is perfect for those who have traveled a few times and therefore, familiar with the regulations. You will be given just enough time to sort all your belongings without necessarily being rushed.
The slowest of all lanes will be the Green Circle Lane which is for “Families and Passengers with Medical Liquids”. This is also the lane for persons with the disabilities and medical conditions, parents traveling with kids or seniors with special needs.
Though there are no penalties for selecting the wrong lane, you will find yourself in a very awkward situation if you see that you are delaying the whole lane because you are not as familiar as you thought you are with the regulations.
