The Blackberry Bold 9780 from Research in Motion (RIM) pushes the envelope on Smartphones by adding practical multimedia features to a business communication device. This model is one of the new blackberry phones that have a 5-megapixel autofocus camera. The 9780 is based on the 9700 series and has the ergonomics of the RIM Blackberry QWERTY keyboard in addition to the built-in track pad. The track pad is sensitive and responsive; allowing easy navigation. The 2.44-inch TFT screen displays 65,000 colors and is able to handle moderate graphics through the patented RIM processor. The Blackberry Bold 9780 is a full 3G phone that supports UMTS/HSDPA protocols. A little over 120 grams in weight and less than 110 mm long, the device improves significantly on older, bulkier models.
Operating System and Applications
A BlackBerry Bold 9780 overview of software shows the device to be powered by the Blackberry OS 6.0 and comes with several carriers although an unlocked Blackberry Bold may be sold as part of a bulk or corporate order. An unlocked Blackberry offers the complete feature set of a paired handset since there are no changes to the OS, similar to other unlocked GSM phones. The BlackBerry OS supports Microsoft Office document types, the unique Blackberry Messenger, a document editor and organizer. The OS primarily supports Java apps.
Connectivity
Recent additions include upgraded audio and video capabilities. The BlackBerry App store supplies thousands of useful productivity tools for the phone. The phone connects to a computer or tablet via Bluetooth or microUSB v.2.0.
